As the model proved itself, we expanded with RecordNations.com for the document management industry.

That insight led to the launch of Shred Nations in 2004, now the largest independent marketplace for shredding services in North America.
We didn’t observe these industries from the outside; we operated inside them. That operator’s perspective shaped everything that followed. When the internet began changing how customers searched for services, TRI-R entered the digital era early. The launch of Tri.com revealed something bigger than online demand. TRI-R expanded into document shredding and became an early member of the National Association for Information Destruction (NAID), helping define standards in an industry where trust and compliance are non-negotiable.
Our story began when David Powelson founded TRI-R Recycling in Denver. What started as a paper and electronics recycling company grew into one of the largest independent recycling businesses in the United States.
